Bengaluru, May 18 -- Amid fears of fuel shortages triggered by reports of a possible transport disruption in Karnataka, public sector oil marketing companies on Monday moved to calm public anxiety, asserting that petrol and diesel stocks across the state remain adequate and supply lines are functioning without any interruption.

In a strongly worded assurance, Siddharth Agarwal, Karnataka State-Level Coordinator for the oil industry representing Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), urged citizens not to indulge in panic buying or hoarding of fuel.
