Kendrapada, June 25 -- Police in Odisha's Kendrapada district have arrested a youth for his alleged involvement in the murder of a BJP booth president following a dispute in Ramnagar village.

Kendrapada SDPO Jyoti Ranjan Gaud said Jamboo Marine Police arrested the accused, identified as Sanjay Mandal of Ramnagar village, in connection with the incident that occurred on June 23.

According to police, the deceased, Tapan Kumar Das, a carpenter and BJP booth president of Ramnagar, was feeding cattle when an argument reportedly broke out between him and Sanjay Mandal.

During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked Tapan with a wooden plank and later struck his head with a brick in a fit of rage, police said.
