Kendrapada, June 23 -- The Odisha State Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance of the alleged assault and mistreatment of Tikhiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha and directed Kendrapada Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kataria to submit a detailed inquiry report into the incident.
Chairperson of the State Women's Commission Shovana Mohanty said the Commission initiated action based on media reports despite no formal complaint being filed yet by Ojha.
Making it clear that justice would prevail if the allegations are substantiated, Mohanty said a Commission team would meet Chameli Ojha and conduct an independent inquiry into the matter.
