Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 -- The forest wing of Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested a suspected hunter and seized a leopard skin from his possession during a raid in Nuapada district.
Acting on reliable information, the Vigilance forest wing conducted a surprise raid in the Udyanbandh Forest Range under the Khariar Forest Division and detected a wildlife offence, official sources said.
During the raid, the team seized one leopard skin and arrested the accused, identified as Inyat Alli of Kumuntimunda village in Nuapada district.
The accused was arrested for allegedly violating Section 9 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, punishable under Section 51 of the Act.
The investigation is underway and further details are awaited.
