Bhubaneswar, May 14 -- In a major crackdown on financial misconduct, Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Subash Chandra Sahoo, an employee of the District Education Officer (DEO) office in Cuttack, for allegedly misappropriating more than Rs 51.53 lakh in government funds through a sophisticated digital fraud.
According to Vigilance sources, Sahoo committed the fraud during his tenure in the accounts section of the DEO office, where he was responsible for maintaining the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) and Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS).
The arrest followed a detailed Vigilance investigation into irregularities detected in salary disbursement records between December 31, 2018, and October 16, 2021.
