Bhubaneswar, March 18 -- Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested a bank official involved in a massive embezzlement of government funds totaling Rs.5.56 crore, in collusion with his father, a retired teacher.
Matruprasad Mohanty, Branch Head of Jana Small Finance Bank in Bhadrak, was taken into custody for his role in misappropriating funds from the Office of the Block Education Officer (BEO), Korei, in Jajpur district.
The fraudulent activities resulted in a total loss of Rs.5,56,11,495.
Investigation revealed a sophisticated scheme orchestrated by Matruprasad and his father, Pradip Kumar Mohanty, a retired Headmaster who had been re-engaged at the BEO office.
