Bhubaneswar, Feb. 19 -- The Odisha government has requested the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) to hand over Rourkela Airport to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to facilitate its expansion and development, Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena told the Assembly on Thursday.

Responding to a query from BJP legislator Durga Charan Tanti, Minister Jena said a pre-feasibility survey has already been completed to make the airport suitable for larger aircraft such as the Airbus A-320 and Boeing 737.
