Bhubaneswar, Sept. 8 -- Odisha has emerged as a national frontrunner in clean-air governance, with several of its urban centres securing top positions in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2026 conducted under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP),official sources said on Tuesday.

The recognition highlights the State's sustained efforts to improve ambient air quality through targeted interventions, scientific and data-driven planning, coordinated implementation and active community participation.

Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) secured Rank 1 nationally in Category II, emerging as the country's top-performing urban local body in the category.
