Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- Odisha Government will soon introduce a new Film Policy aimed at revitalising the Odia film industry, promoting quality film production and ensuring the welfare and social security of artists, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said here yesterday.

Addressing the 35th and 36th State Film Awards ceremony here, the Chief Minister said the proposed policy would provide a comprehensive roadmap for the growth of the Odia film industry. However, he did not indicate any timeline for its rollout.

The announcement assumes significance as the Odia film industry has been grappling with declining box-office returns and shrinking theatrical presence.
