Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 -- Odisha has intensified efforts to ensure the supply of safe drinking water in flood-affected rural areas by disinfecting contaminated water sources, restoring damaged drinking water infrastructure and arranging alternative water supply wherever normal services have been disrupted.

The flood triggered by incessant rains has affected over 8 lakh people spread over 95 blocks in 18 of the 30 districts in the state while 2.69 lakh people have been evacuated by the administration to safer places and provided relief.
