Bhubaneswar, April 8 -- Odisha is poised to emerge as a major hub for the garments and textile industry, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Wednesday while inaugurating a large-scale apparel manufacturing unit by Page Industries in Ramdaspur, Cuttack district.

The newly established unit, built with an investment of Rs.750 crore, has already created over 5,800 jobs for young people, the Chief Minister said. Page Industries has also laid the foundation for another unit in Bhubaneswar, worth Rs.258 crore, expected to generate 3,500 employment opportunities.

In addition, the foundation stone for a textile plant by MAS India Clothing Pvt Ltd was also laid by the Chief Minister in Bhubaneswar.
