Bhubaneswar, June 24 -- Odisha's growing importance in India's maritime landscape came into sharp focus on Wednesday as the coastal state hosted the 14th Multi-Agency Maritime Security Group (Policy) Meeting.

The high-level national conference of this nature was held outside New Delhi for the first time.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, inaugurating the meeting here, said Odisha's 575-km coastline, rich maritime legacy and rapidly expanding port infrastructure have positioned the state as a key player in India's maritime and economic future.
