Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 -- In a major push towards achieving universal housing coverage in urban areas, the Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved the PMAY-(U) BANDHU scheme with an outlay of Rs 1,615 crore to complement the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 and ensure that every eligible urban family has access to a pucca house by 2029.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary Anu Garg said the state-funded scheme would provide critical Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to accelerate the implementation of Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and Transit Housing (TH) projects, particularly in smaller urban centres where financial viability has remained a challenge.
