Bhubaneswar, May 17 -- Odisha Police have taken into custody 1,771 persons, including absconders and habitual offenders, during a five-day statewide special enforcement drive leading to the seizure of more than three tonnes of cannabis, illegal firearms and 179 vehicles involved in illegal mining activities, officials said on Sunday.
The special operation, conducted from May 12 to May 16 on the direction of Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, was carried out across all police ranges under the supervision of district SPs and police commissioners.
