Bhubaneswar, March 20 -- In a major step toward a drug-free Odisha, the state police will initiate a comprehensive statewide campaign from April 1, 2026, aiming to completely eliminate cannabis and other narcotics within the next three years, State Director General of Police, Y.B. Khurania, announced on Friday.
Highlighting the success of previous operations, DGP Khurania told newsmen here that from January 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, Odisha achieved unprecedented results in its anti-narcotics drive.
During this period, illegal cannabis cultivation worth an estimated Rs. 1,444 crore was destroyed, while cannabis valued at Rs. 1,346 crore, 1,862 liters of cannabis oil worth Rs. 200 crore, brown sugar worth Rs. 41.7 crore, and cough syru...
