Bhubaneshwar, Jan. 20 -- The Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate police busted a sextortion racket by arresting five accused persons who allegedly extorted a 72-year-old retired government employee by recording a nude video to blackmail him.
The retired State government employee had to part with his life-long savings of Rs 88 lakh, as the accused persons threatened him of making it viral on social media platforms.
The accused persons were arrested from Jajpur and Bhubaneswar after a simultaneous raid conducted on a tip-off.
By adopting such deceptive tactics of blackmail and extortion, the accused persons induced the victim, on multiple occasions, to transfer and pay substantial sums of money.
