Bhubaneswar, July 31 -- Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Friday directed officials to maintain a close watch on the water level of the Mahanadi River and asked district administrations in the river basin and coastal areas to remain on high alert as floodwaters continue to pose a threat.

Reviewing the flood situation at Lok Seva Bhawan with senior officials from various departments and district collectors, Pujari said the overall flood situation has begun to improve as rainfall has reduced and weather conditions have stabilised in several parts of the state. However, he stressed that there should be no let-up in preparedness until the situation returns to normal.
