Bhubaneswar, July 15 -- The Odisha government on Wednesday launched the 'Surakshita Paryataka Abhiyan' (Safe Tourist Campaign) to strengthen tourist safety and promote the state as a safe and responsible tourism destination.
The initiative, launched in Puri by Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Pravati Parida, has been undertaken jointly by the Tourism Department, Odisha Fire and Emergency Services and the National Institute of Water Sports (NIWS).
As part of the campaign, Parida distributed government licences to professionally trained lifeguards who have completed internationally recognised lifesaving courses.
