Bhubaneswar, March 17 -- As summer temperatures in Odisha rise abnormally due to unusual rainfall and erratic weather patterns, the state government has issued a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to follow and ensure public safety.
Officials noted that urban areas, with their extensive building and road surfaces, absorb more solar heat, leading to higher temperatures than surrounding rural regions.
In response, the Housing and Urban Development Department has released strict guidelines for ULBs to manage the situation effectively.
