Bhubaneswar, Aug. 26 -- Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati today proposed intra-linking of water basins across the state to reduce flood risks and ensure better water management.
Chairing a review meeting at the Raj Bhavan conference hall on the current flood situation and preparedness in affected districts, the Governor explained that linking water systems could help divert excess water from flood-prone regions to water-deficient areas.
"This will help reduce flood risks, improve irrigation, recharge groundwater, ensure drinking water supply, and support rural livelihoods," he said.
Dr. Kambhampati also stressed the need for a strategy paper and periodic studies on interlinking and intra-linking of river systems.
