Bhubaneswar, July 31 -- The flood situation in Odisha is gradually improving as rainfall has subsided in recent days, although 15 districts continue to remain affected and authorities are maintaining a close watch on the Mahanadi river, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said today.
Reviewing the flood situation with senior officials and district collectors here today, Pujari said 15 of the state's 30 districts are now free from flood impact, while the remaining 15 continue to be affected to varying degrees.
According to official data, floods have affected about 7.92 lakh people in 1,362 villages under 446 gram panchayats across 57 blocks and 174 wards in 11 urban local bodies. Around 2.69 lakh people remain marooned, ...
