Bhubaneswar, Dec. 29 -- The Odisha Excise Department has seized illegal narcotic substances and related materials worth Rs.5.18 crore during a special enforcement drive conducted over the last three days.
According to Excise Department sources, 581 cases were registered and around 200 persons were arrested during the operation.
Of these, eight cases were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The department also seized 17 vehicles used in illegal activities.
The confiscated items include 27,689 litres of illicit country liquor, 1,097 litres of duty-paid liquor, 2,73,860 litres of mahua wash, and 29,050 kilograms of jaggery wash. In addition, the raiding teams seized 720 kilograms of mahua flowers.
