Bhubaneswar, April 9 -- The Odisha Government has launched a Self-Defence Training Programme for 5,000 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) under its flagship Mission Shakti initiative, aiming to enhance their safety, confidence, and independence.
The programme was inaugurated at Mission Shakti Bhawan in Bhubaneswar by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, in the presence of Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar.
Addressing the gathering, Parida highlighted that true empowerment of women goes beyond financial independence and must also ensure safety, dignity, and self-confidence.
