Bhubaneswar, Aug. 20 -- The Odisha government has drawn up an ambitious plan to transform Hirakud into a diverse, world-class tourism destination by integrating its natural, cultural and heritage attractions with water and adventure tourism.
The integrated development plan was reviewed by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at a meeting here on Wednesday, with officials discussing the progress of a range of tourism infrastructure and connectivity projects in the Hirakud region.
The plan seeks to move Hirakud beyond its identity as a dam tourism destination by bringing together nature, water, adventure, heritage, culture and craft tourism, while also creating opportunities for local livelihoods.
