Bhubaneswar, June 23 -- As part of its initiative to preserve the centuries-old traditions of Shree Jagannath Temple, the Odisha Government on Tuesday ceremonially dispatched 380 kg of Basunga Pat-the sacred silk cord used in the rituals of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra-to the temple administration in Puri.

The initiative reflects the state's resolve to safeguard Odisha's rich temple traditions, handloom heritage, and indigenous craftsmanship while promoting sustainable silk production through Karuna Silk, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta said while flagging off the annual consignment.
