Kendrapara, Nov. 8 -- A local court on Friday sentenced a 31-year-old man to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 63,000 for his involvement in the gangrape of a minor college girl.
According to special public prosecutor Manoj Kumar Sahoo, the convicted individual, Surjyakant Sahoo alias Bablu, a resident of Athagarh, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Another accused, Ranjit Swain of Murunia village under Balikuda police station,who was employed as a manager at an OYO hotel in Cuttack,was acquitted by the court.
