Bhubaneswar, April 6 -- The Odisha Congress on Monday criticized the recent decision to equally share the Bansadhara River water between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, calling it "unfortunate" and aimed solely at appeasing Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing the media, party Vice President and Jeypore MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati alleged that the decision undermines Odisha's interests and reflects an anti-Odisha mindset of the state's "double-engine" government.

Bahinipati expressed regret that none of Odisha's 20 BJP MPs raised objections in Parliament, and neither the Chief Minister nor the state BJP leadership opposed the move. He accused the government of sacrificing Odisha's welfare to please Andhra Pradesh.
