Bhubaneswar, July 11 -- Taking serious note of widespread errors in textbooks for Classes I to VIII, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday ordered a criminal investigation into the entire textbook preparation and publication process.

The Chief Minister also directed the Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to lodge a separate FIR with the Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, in connection with the textbook errors.

Earlier, Majhi had constituted a committee headed by the Development Commissioner to investigate the circumstances and lapses that led to the errors in the school textbooks.
