Bhubaneswar, July 15 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today expressed deep sorrow over the death of Soumyashree Bisi and announced an ex gratia of Rs 20 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to her next of kin.
Soumyashree, a second-year B.Ed student of FM Autonomous College, Balasore, died late Sunday night at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. She had attempted self-immolation on July 12 on the college campus, alleging mental harassment by an Assistant Professor after being denied justice over her complaints.
Suffering over 90 percent burn injuries in the incident, which took place in full public view, she had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar before succumbing to her injuries.
