Bhubaneswar, April 29 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Odisha's Crime Branch has busted an online fake trading syndicate by nabbing two fraudsters from Darjeeling district of West Bengal for cheating an Odia victim to the tune of Rs 5.14 crore.
A victim from Odisha was lured by unidentified cyber fraudsters to invest in the stock market through a fake online trading platform with the promise of exorbitantly high returns. Believing the assurances made by the glib-talking fraudsters, the complainant transferred a total amount of Rs 5,14,00,000/- (Rupees Five Crore Fourteen Lakhs) to multiple bank accounts over a period of 20 days from 17 March 2025, as instructed by the fraudsters.
