Bhubaneswar, July 14 -- The Odisha Cabinet on Tuesday approved a Rural Development Department proposal to undertake around 4,607.21 km of new road projects and complete 115 km of ongoing road works under the Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana (MMSY).
Briefing newsmen after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary Anu Garg said the Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana was launched in 2014-15 to provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected rural habitations not covered under any other scheme.
Subsequently, the scope of the scheme was expanded in 2021-22 to include the upgradation and widening of existing Rural Development (RD) roads as well as roads transferred from the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department.
