Bhubaneswar, Oct. 21 -- The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the rejection of the nomination papers of Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi for the Nuapada Assembly by-election and urged the Election Commission to initiate criminal proceedings against him.

BJP State Vice-President Jatin Mohanty alleged that Majhi, the Congress nominee from Nuapada, failed to disclose in his affidavit two criminal cases pending against him at the Nuapada Police Station.

He said that during the 2024 general elections, Majhi had mentioned the two pending cases-Case Nos. 146/2022 and 10/2018-before the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court.

However, in his affidavit for the current by-election, he "deliberately concealed"...
