Bhubaneswar, July 7 -- Odisha has emerged as one of the country's leading states in forest conservation and green cover expansion, with its forest and tree cover increasing by 558 square kilometres over the past two years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Tuesday.
Addressing the 77th State-Level Van Mahotsav at Kapileswar, Majhi said the increase in green cover has helped Odisha secure the third position in the country in forest conservation.
Emphasising the need for environmental protection, the Chief Minister said large-scale plantation is the only sustainable solution to address the challenges posed by climate change and rising temperatures. He asserted that economic development and environmental conservation are complementary...
