Bhubaneswar, June 16 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday alleged lapses and delay in police action in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 12-year-old girl in Rairangpur of Mayurbhanj district and demanded immediate intervention to ensure justice for the victim.
In a statement issued here, the opposition party said the incident had raised serious concerns over women's safety and the law-and-order situation in the state.
A BJD fact-finding team led by Mayurbhanj-II president Debashish Marandi visited Rairangpur and met the victim and her family to gather details of the incident.
