Bhubaneswar, May 10 -- The Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police, which has taken over investigation into the mob lynching of a 32-year-old GRP constable in Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Sunday said it would probe alleged police negligence along with other aspects of the sensational case.
The incident took place on May 7 after the constable was accused of attempting to rape two young women. The victim, identified as Soumya Ranjan Swain, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in the presence of policemen, triggering widespread outrage across the State.
