Bhubaneswar, July 30 -- At least three people have died and more than seven lakh residents across 20 districts of Odisha have been affected as floods triggered by a deep depression inundated 1,510 villages, damaged hundreds of houses and submerged vast stretches of farmland, disrupting normal life, officials said today.
The state government confirmed three deaths, while unofficial reports put the toll at seven.
Bhadrak emerged as the worst-affected district, with over four lakh people impacted. Balasore and Jajpur followed, with an estimated 1.46 lakh and 1.37 lakh people affected, respectively. The government has opened 234 relief camps in Bhadrak alone, sheltering more than one lakh people.
