Bhubaneswar, Aug. 26 -- Police in Odisha's Gajapati district have rescued five minor girls from Hyderabad, who were allegedly trafficked from the bordering areas of Gajapati, Rayagada and Kandhamal districts, on the pretext of providing them jobs outside Odisha.
The rescue followed an investigation into a suspected trafficking network operating in the tribal-dominated areas of the three districts.
The case was registered on August 17 following an FIR lodged by a local woman sarpanch, who reported the suspected trafficking of women and minor girls from the area.
A probe was initiated under the supervision of R. Udayagiri SDPO Rakesh Kumar Sahoo.
