Bhubaneswar, April 8 -- The anti-corruption Vigilance wing of Odisha police today arrested five staffers of a government-run hospital in Ganjam district on the charge of allegedly embezzling Rs two crore government funds by way of drawing unauthorized salary by false records.

The financial fraud was unearthed at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Kodala in Ganjam district involving the misappropriation of government funds exceeding Rs 2 crore.

The Vigilance swung into action on the basis of allegations that staff members falsified records to draw unauthorized arrear salary bills between 2023 and 2025. The arrested hospital staffs manufactured fraudulent arrear salary bills in the names of hospital employees, said Vigilance officials.
