Bhubaneswar, July 31 -- Citing flood-related disruptions and a large pendency of voter verification cases, the Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has urged the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to extend by at least 30 days the deadline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls.
A BJD delegation submitted a memorandum on Thursday to CEO R S Gopalan, stating that the extension was necessary to ensure that every eligible voter gets a fair opportunity to participate in the revision process and that no genuine voter is deprived of the right to vote.
