Wellington, June 12 -- New Zealand has reaffirmed its strong partnership with Italy as the two countries marked 75 years of diplomatic relations.

During talks between New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters and his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani in Rome, both sides agreed to intensify cooperation on strategic, trade, and economic issues, according to a New Zealand government statement released on Thursday.

The ministers also highlighted ongoing collaboration in Antarctica, the statement said.

A new agreement was signed to boost cooperation in arts, science, and sport, further strengthening bilateral ties, it said.
