Panchkula, Sept. 2 -- The Indian Nursing Council has notified regulations for a one-year post-basic diploma residency programme in geriatric speciality nursing to prepare specialist nurses to care for older people in hospitals, long-term care facilities, old-age homes, and community settings.
The Indian Nursing Council (Post Basic Diploma in Geriatric Speciality Nursing - Residency Program) Regulations, 2026, came into force from the date of their notification in the Official Gazette.
According to the regulations, the programme will consist of 10 per cent theory and 90 per cent practical training, including clinical and laboratory work. Its curriculum will include foundational courses, speciality courses and bedside practical training.
