Kolkata, June 12 -- The number of community Durga Puja pandals in the state will go up this year, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Friday, while iteraring that his government would review the way the former TMC regime gave financial assistance to the organisers.

"This year the number of Durga Puja pandals will go up across the state," Adhikari said at a programme organised to mark 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre.

Last year, 45000 community Durga Puja committees received financial assistance of Rs 1.10 lakh each. These included the 3000 pandals in state capital Kolkata.
