Patna, Sept. 22 -- For thousands of children from rural communities around NTPC's power projects in Bihar and West Bengal, education in township schools is opening pathways to competitive examinations, higher education and careers that once seemed beyond reach.
Across NTPC's Eastern Region-I stations at Barh, Nabinagar, Kahalgaon, Kanti, Farakka and the BRBCL projects, 9,429 students are currently enrolled in residential township schools. Around 8,000, or nearly 85 per cent, are from project-affected villages and surrounding rural areas.
The schools, including St Joseph's Convent School, Notre Dame Academy, Delhi Public School, DAV, Bal Bharati and Kendriya Vidyalaya, bring together children of NTPC employees and students from neighbourin...
