Lucknow, March 31 -- To meet the growing electricity demand and promote clean energy in Uttar Pradesh, NTPC Limited has proposed setting up a nuclear power plant in the state. The company has identified Prayagraj, Lalitpur, and Sonbhadra as potential sites.
According to Diwakar Kaushik, Regional Executive Director (North), NTPC, the final decision will be made by the state government after a feasibility study and necessary approvals.
The state government will be responsible for ensuring the availability of land and water resources for the project. He said that given the growing energy demand and climate goals, nuclear power is being developed as an alternative to coal-based power.
