Dimapur, Aug. 29 -- The Naga Students Federation (NSF) on Saturday appealed to the Nagaland government to constitute, by a statute, an autonomous Nagaland Inner Line Regulation Commission, vested with full powers, to formulate rules and regulations to ensure stringent enforcement of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) 1873 in the state.
"The commission also must have the autonomy to take all or any decision(s) that supplement building a robust mechanism for smooth and balanced implementation of the Inner Line Regulation," the federation in a representation to state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said.
