Hyderabad, Sept. 14 -- AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday criticised the BJP-led Centre over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
In a post on social media platform X, Owaisi said the "misplaced arrogance" of union Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP's "chronology" had triggered the anti-CAA/NRC movement in 2019.
He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had then stated that there would be no NRC.
Owaisi said the ongoing SIR exercise was already causing difficulties for ordinary people, particularly minorities, SCs, STs and migrants, who were being required to appear for hearings with documents.
