Srinagar, Dec. 31 -- : The Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), the largest conglomerate of Islamic organisations in J&K, on Wednesday raised objections to 'Vande Mataram' singing competition which is being organised by certain government departments.
In a statement, the MMU said that expressions and anthems carrying devotional or theological meanings rooted in non-Islamic belief systems raise serious 'Shar'i' concerns for Muslims who adhere to Islamic monotheism. Islam, it said, strictly regulates religious expressions and does not permit participation in acts that symbolically or verbally sanctify or deify any created entity.
