New York, Aug. 30 -- Four-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic survived a fitness scare before defeating Britain's Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-3 in a high-quality third-round contest at Flushing Meadows today IST.
The Serbian, seeded seventh, produced his sharpest performance of the tournament after two subdued wins earlier in the week that raised questions about his physical condition. Djokovic required a medical timeout late in the opening set after appearing to grab his lower back, but he returned to court with renewed energy to outlast a determined Norrie.
