Kolkata, May 29 -- After intense heatwave conditions in Kolkata, relief has finally arrived in the form of rain. The Alipore-based Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said there is a strong possibility of norwester storms accompanied by thunder and rain in Kolkata and several districts of South Bengal over the next 48 hours and has issued an orange alert.
In particular, Nabanna has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in several districts including East Burdwan.
Following this forecast, administrative monitoring has already been intensified.
The weather office stated that this weather change in South Bengal is being caused by a cyclonic circulation formed over Odisha along with twin trough lines.
