Oslo, May 27 -- Round two of Norway Chess 2026 produced another day of fighting chess in Oslo, highlighted by decisive Armageddon finishes after tense classical encounters in both the Open and Women's sections.

In the Open section, the only decisive result in classical play came on top board, where Alireza Firouzja defeated India's R. Praggnanandhaa in a complex middlegame battle. Firouzja steadily increased pressure, outplaying his opponent in a strategically demanding position before converting with precision to register his second consecutive classical win of the tournament. The result also strengthened his early lead in the standings.
